Ambient Music lässt akustische Landschaften und Atmosphären entstehen, die Räume ausfüllen und mit der Umgebung verschmelzen. Ohne Texte und fixe Strukturen fließen die Klänge durch den Raum und können diesen wie Farben und Muster gestalten.

Fotos Vernissage: David Noger und Christian Stuppner

Idee und Vorschlag zu dieser Ausstellung während den Bregenzer Festspielen kam von Paul Albert Leitner, Leitner war erstmals 2018 in einer Ausstellung in der Galerie Lisi Hämmerle präsent.

In Conversation mit Paul Albert Leitner und Albert Weis wird ein spannendes minimalistisches Konzept für den begrenzten Galerieraum an Ort und Stelle installiert, Schwerpunkt architektonische Fotografie von Paul Albert Leitner sowie mehrere skulpturale Arbeiten von Albert Weis, ergänzt mit Fotografien und Papierarbeite aus seinem Projekt zur Berliner Philharmonie.

Albert Weis

Im Mittelpunkt der Arbeiten von Albert Weis steht die Auseinandersetzung mit dem Alltäglichen. Dabei setzt er sich mit kulturellen, historischen und architektonischen Situationen auseinander und übersetzt diese in ein skulpturales Vokabular. Seine jüngsten Arbeiten beschäftigen sich mit dem Raster als kulturelle und architektonische Codes und deren Funktion im Reproduktionsprozess und in der Produktion von Bildern. Weis fokussiert sich dabei insbesondere auf die Moderne und die Nachkriegsmoderne, deren Formensprache uns und unsere alltägliche Wahrnehmung maßgeblich geprägt haben.

Geb.1969 in Passau, lebt und arbeitet in Berlin, 1989 bis 1997 Studium der Bildhauerei an der Akademie der Bildenden Künste München bei Thomas Zacharias und James Reineking.

Weis erhielt u.a. 1999 den Förderpreis für Bildende Kunst der Stadt München und 2001 den Bayerischen Staatsförderpreis für Bildende Kunst, 2005 Stipendium des Freistaats Bayern an der Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris, 2009 Stipendiat in der Villa Aurora in Los Angeles und 2014 Artist in Residence am Irish Museum of Modern Art in Dublin.

Paul Albert Leitner

geb.1957 in Jenbach, Tirol, Österreich lebt und arbeitet in Wien, ist „Künstler und Leser„, „Geher und Gucker„, „Wandelnder und Fotograf„, wie Hubertus von Amelunxen in einem einleitenden Essay zu dessen Bildern schreibt. „Seine gesammelten Architekturen sind aufgelesene Momente der Bewegung … Paul Albert Leitner spricht mit den Städten, er zieht durch die Straßen, ist von ihnen angezogen und wird von ihnen beschaut.“ Bangkok, Berlin, Yazd, Sarajewo, Las Vegas, Cuba, Macao, Hongkong, Lodz, Katowice sind seine Stationen. Ausnahmsweise findet sich bei Leitner auch Österreichisches: Die Auslage eines Favoritner Modegeschäftes, das pastellfarbene Pyjamas zur Schau stellte (2005), und ein Hotel in Graz, dessen Feuermauer im Jahr 2003 die Reste eines Abbruchhauses trug“.

Nun auch Bregenz, im Blickwinkel die Fassade des Vorarlberg Museums.

Zahlreiche Buchveröffentlichungen, meist in der Fotohof Edition, Salzburg, dokumentieren das Werk des Künstlers. Paul Albert Leitner erhielt 1995 den Fotopreis des Rupertinum Salzburg und 2010 den österreichischen Staatspreis für künstlerische Fotografie.

Ambient music creates acoustic landscapes and atmospheres that fill spaces and blend with the environment. Without texts and fixed structures, the sounds flow through the room and can shape it like colors and patterns.

The idea and suggestion for this exhibition during the Bregenz Festival came from Paul Albert Leitner, who was first present in 2018 in an exhibition at the Lisi Hämmerle Gallery.

In conversation with Paul Albert Leitner and Albert Weis, an exciting minimalist concept for the limited gallery space will be installed on site, focusing on architectural photography by Paul Albert Leitner and several sculptural works by Albert Weis, supplemented with photographs and works on paper from his Berlin Philharmonic Project .

Paul Albert Leitner

Born 1957 in Jenbach, Tyrol, Austria lives and works in Vienna, is „artist and reader“, „walker and observer“, „wandering and photographer“, as Hubertus von Amelunxen writes in an introductory essay on his pictures. „His collected architectures are collected moments of movement … Paul Albert Leitner talks to the cities, he walks through the streets, is attracted by them and is looked at by them.“ Bangkok, Berlin, Yazd, Sarajevo, Las Vegas, Cuba, Macao, Hong Kong, Lodz, Katowice are his stations. Exceptionally, there are also Austrian items at Leitner: the window display of a Favoritner fashion shop that displayed pastel-colored pajamas (2005), and a hotel in Graz, whose fire wall in 2003 bore the remains of a demolished house“.

Now also Bregenz, with the facade of the Vorarlberg Museum in perspective.

Numerous book publications, mostly in the Fotohof Edition, Salzburg, document the artist’s work. In 1995 Paul Albert Leitner received the Photo Prize of the Rupertinum Salzburg and in 2010 the Austrian State Prize for Artistic Photography.

Albert Weis

The focus of Albert Weis‘ work is the confrontation with the everyday. He deals with cultural, historical and architectural situations and translates them into a sculptural vocabulary. His most recent works investigate the grid as a cultural and architectural code and their function in the process of reproduction and in the production of images. Weis focuses in particular on modernism and post-war modernism, whose formal language has significantly shaped us and our everyday perception.

Born 1969 in Passau, Germany – lives and works in Berlin. 1989 to 1997 studied sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich with Thomas Zacharias and James Reineking.

Weis received, among other things, the 1999 prize for fine arts from the city of Munich and in 2001 the Bavarian state prize for fine arts, in 2005 a grant from the Free State of Bavaria at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris, in 2009 a grant at the Villa Aurora in Los Angeles and in 2014 as an artist in residence Irish Museum of Modern Art in Dublin.
